METRONOME

OF

HEART

The heart beats - to lay on your chest & be soothed by the metronome of life. A life shared. A life so loud one can only be lulled by the drum of our most primordial form. Here she rests.

 pedestals | object 01-08

Metronome pedestals are objects with natural character - some adorned with special elements of earth. Opalescent pink mussel inlay, solid walnut carvings, deadstock 100% silk wraps - structure composed of solid heartwood American black walnut tops, walnut veneer & plywood base, wood finished in natural walnut oil & soap flake.

Walnut oil & soap finishes require care and maintenance over time but your objects take on a lovely patina and warm character through the years.

Inlay techniques have been used for centuries to tell stories of familial & human history. The seamless fusing of two materials for ornament is superfluous to the function of the object but within the ornament lies a dedication to the bonding of function and intrigue. The intrigue serves a purpose that is a part of the unconscious matter that connects us to a space or object - an identity. Thus serving a function of greater connection to the world around us. An art form that has been diminished to the invasiveness of minimalism & modern manufacturing practice.

Pink mussels were responsibly sourced through protected foraging practices. Only a small percentage of this mussel shell has a radiant pink color and is gathered by divers.
